为豆科植物合欢的干燥树皮，6~9月剥取树皮，切段，晒干或炕干。
合欢皮各家论述
据《本草经疏》记载：“合欢，味甘气平，主养五脏。心为君主之官，本自调和，脾虚则五脏不安，心气躁急，则遇事怫郁多忧。甘主益脾，脾实则五脏自安，甘可以缓，心气舒缓，则神明自畅而欢乐无忧；神明畅达，则觉圆通，所欲咸遂矣。”
合欢皮性状
【性味】 味甘，性平
【归经】 归心、肝、肺经
呈卷曲筒状或半筒状，外表面灰棕色至灰褐色，稍有纵皱纹，有的成浅裂纹，密生明显的椭圆形横向皮孔，棕色或棕红色，偶有突起的横棱或较大的圆形枝痕，常附有地衣斑；内表面淡黄棕色或黄白色，平滑，有细密纵纹。质硬而脆，易折断，断面呈纤维性片状，淡黄棕色或黄白色，气微香，味淡、微涩、稍刺舌，而后喉头有不适感。
