The leaf of perennial herbaceous plant Artemisia argyi levl. et Vant. of family Compositae. Collected in summer when not bloom. Fragrant smell and bitter taste. 据《本草汇言》记载：“艾叶，暖血温经，行气开郁之药也。开关窍，醒一切沉涸伏匿内闭诸疾。
若气血痰饮积聚为病，哮喘逆气，骨蒸痞结，瘫痪痈疽，瘰疬结核等疾，灸之立起沉疴。
若入服食丸散汤饮中，温中除湿，调经脉，壮子宫，故妇人方中多加用之。”
艾叶性状
【性味】 味辛、苦，性温，有小毒。
【归经】 归肝、脾、肾经。
叶皱缩，破碎，有短柄。完整叶片展平后呈卵状椭圆形，羽状溶裂，裂片椭圆状披针形，边缘有不规则粗锯齿，上表面灰绿色工深黄绿色，有稀疏的柔毛及腺点，下表面密生灰白色绒毛，质柔软。气清香，味苦。
