为罂粟科植物石生黄堇的全草，岩黄连亦为一种中药，于10-11月采收，除去杂质，洗净，晒干。
岩黄连各家论述
据《贵州草药》记载：“清热解毒，利湿，止血；主肝炎，口舌糜烂，火眼，目翳，血痢，痔疮出血。”
岩黄连性状
【性味】 味苦，性凉。
归经】 归胃，大肠经。
根类圆柱形或圆锥形，稍扭曲，下部有分枝，表面淡黄色至棕黄色，具纵裂纹或纵沟，栓皮发达易剥落；质松，断面不整齐，似朽木状，皮部与木部界限不明显，叶具长柄，柔软卷曲，叶片多皱缩破碎，淡黄色，完整者二回羽状分裂，一回裂片5枚，奇数对生，末回裂片菱形或卵形。气微，味苦涩。
