百部亦称婆妇草，药虱药，为百部科植物蔓生百部、直立百部或对叶百部等的块根，百部生长于海拔300米至400米的地区，喜较温暖、潮湿、阴凉环境，耐寒，忌积水，以土层深厚、疏松肥沃、富含腐殖质、排水良好的砂质壤土栽培为宜。

《滇南本草》记载：“润肺，主肺热咳嗽；消痰定喘，止虚痨咳嗽，杀虫。”
百部性状
【性味】 味甘，苦，性微温，有小毒。
【归经】 归肺经。
呈纺锤形，上端较细长，皱缩弯曲，表面黄白色或淡棕黄色，有不规则深纵沟，间或有横皱纹。质脆，易折断，断面平坦，角质样，淡黄棕色或黄白色，皮部较宽，中柱扁缩。气微，味甘、苦。
