白芍是毛莨科植物芍药的干燥根。夏、秋二季采挖,洗净,除去头尾和细根,置沸水中煮后除去外皮或去皮后再煮,晒干。芍药适宜温暖湿润气候条件,具有喜光、喜温、喜肥和一定的耐寒特性。白芍是常用家种大宗药材,需求量巨大,产地集中,生长周期长,需求刚性,较容易存放,不仅是众多药商长期追逐的对象,也是一些资金雄厚的大户乐于参与的品种;白芍不是特效药材,但却是很多方剂不可缺少的配伍。

白芍性状
【性味】 味苦,酸,性微寒。【归经】 归肝,脾经。
呈圆柱形,平直或稍弯曲,两端平截,表面类白色或淡红棕色,光洁或有纵皱纹及细根痕,偶有残存的棕褐色外皮;质坚实,不易折断,断面较平坦,类白色或微带棕红色,形成层环明显,射线放射状。气微,味微苦、酸。
