为柽柳科植物柽柳的细嫩枝叶，5～6月割剪嫩枝叶，阴干。生于山野湿润砂碱地及河岸冲积地。

西河柳性状
【性味】 味甘、辛，性平。
【归经】 归心、肺、胃经。
茎枝呈细圆柱形，直径0.5～1.5mm。表面灰绿色，有多数互生鳞片状小叶。质脆，易折断。稍粗的枝表面红褐色，叶片常脱落而残留突起的叶基，断面黄白色，中心有髓。气微，味淡。
