功劳木为小檗科植物阔叶十大功劳、细叶十大功劳或华南十大功劳的茎干，全年可采，截段，晒干。性喜凉爽，不耐寒，适宜阴湿、疏松肥沃的砂质壤土或冲积土，生于向阳山坡的灌丛中，也有栽培。
功劳木各家论述
《饮片新参》记载：“清肺，止痨咳，杀虫，通大便。”
功劳木性状
【性味】 味苦，性寒。
【归经】 归大肠，肾，肺经。
不规则的块片，大小不等，外表面灰黄色至棕褐色，有明显的纵沟纹和横向细裂纹，有的外皮较光滑，有光泽，或有叶柄残基；质硬，切面皮部薄，棕褐色，木部黄色，可见数个同心性环纹及排列紧密的放射状纹理，髓部色较深。气微，味苦。
