为菊科植物红花的干燥成熟果实。秋季果实成熟时，割取地上部分，晒干，打下果实，除去杂质。

红花子性状
【性味】 味甘，性温。
【归经】 归心、肺经。
呈椭圆形或倒卵形，长5～7mm，直径3～5mm。表面类白色，光滑，具4棱，基部截形稍歪斜，四角鼓起，中央微凸，有果柄痕，顶端稍狭，侧面有一凹点。果皮坚硬，内面棕色，微带光泽。种子1枚，卵圆形，种皮菲薄，淡狄黄色，子叶2，黄白色，富油性。气微，味微苦。
