Bitter, warm; kidney meridian entered.
Actions

葫芦巴概述(温肾助阳 散寒止痛)
别名 苦豆、香草、葫芦巴、芦巴子、胡巴、季豆、小木夏、香豆子、芸香草、苦草、黄棕色葫芦巴、红棕色葫芦巴、黄绿色葫芦巴、胡卢巴、胡芦巴
为豆科植物胡芦巴的干燥成熟种子，夏季果实成熟时采割植株，晒干，打下种子，除去杂质。性喜温暖、稍干燥的气候，较耐旱、耐寒、怕高温潮湿，怕涝，喜阳光充足的环境；对土壤要求不严，以土层深厚，疏松肥沃富含有机质的壤土为好，临床应用于防治高山反应。《纲目》记载：“胡芦巴，右肾命门药也，元阳不足，冷气潜伏，不能归元者宜之。”

《本草正义》记载：“葫芦巴，乃温养下焦，疏泄寒气之药，后人以治疝瘕，脚气等证，必系真阳式微，水寒气滞者为宜，苟挟温邪，即为大忌。”
葫芦巴性状
【性味】 味苦，性温。
【归经】 归肾经。
种子略呈菱形，一端略尖，表面淡黄棕色至淡棕色，两侧各有1条深斜沟，种脐点状，位于两沟相连接处，质坚硬，不易破碎。纵切后可见种皮，质薄，胚乳半透明，遇水有黏性，子叶2片，淡黄色，胚根粗长，弯曲。气微，味微苦。
