金沸草为菊科植物旋覆花、欧亚旋覆花和线叶旋覆花的全草，生于海拔150-500m的山坡、荒地、路旁、河岸等处；于9～10月采收全草，晒干。
金沸草各家论述
据《四川中药志》记载：“止咳化痰，定喘除饮。主心脾伏饮，胁下胀痛，肺中痰结，唾如胶漆，及风气湿痹。”
金沸草性状
【性味】 味苦、辛、咸，性温。
【归经】 归肺、大肠经。
干燥的茎叶，茎表面黄褐色至紫黑色，基部具细纵纹及点状物，叶痕清晰，质坚实而硬，折断面黄白色，中央有白色的髓，或成孔隙，叶片多脱落或破碎，残留的叶片，黑绿色，广披针形，向外卷缩，质脆。气微，味微苦。
