贯众为鳞毛蕨科植物粗茎鳞毛蕨的根茎及叶柄残基，于秋季采挖，削去叶柄，须根，除去泥沙，晒干。

贯众性状
【性味】 味苦，性微寒；有小毒。
【归经】 归肝，胃经。
呈圆锥形，似凤梨，表面密被整齐的叶柄基部以及黄棕色膜状鳞片；叶柄基部呈扁圆柱形，稍弯曲，表面棕黑色，稍有光泽，有不规则纵脊纹；横切面呈圆形或半圆形，淡棕色，近边缘外有细小维管束5～13个，环列；根茎淡棕色，横断面有黄白色维管束5～13个，环列。气特异，味微涩、苦。
