满山红为杜鹃花科植物兴安杜鹃的叶，生于山脊、山坡及林下酸性土壤上。9-11月采收，晒干。

据《东北常用中草药手册》记载：“止咳，怯痰。主慢性支气管炎，咳嗽。”
满山红性状
【性味】 味辛、苦，性温。
【归经】 归肺，脾经。
叶片多反卷成筒状，有的皱缩破碎，完整叶片展平后呈长椭圆形或长倒卵形，先端钝，基部近圆形或宽楔形，全缘，上表面暗绿色至褐绿色，散生浅黄色腺鳞，下表面灰绿色，腺鳞甚多，主脉于下面突起，侧脉4-6对，近革质。气芳香而特异，味稍苦、微辛。
