Botanically, Manjakani (also called Majuphal) is Quercus Infectoria. It is also known with names like GALL TREE, GALL OAK, MASIKAI, MAGIC NUT and ALEPPO OAK. In ayurvedic medicine, it is very important medicinal plant, which is useful for its astringent action. It helps in diarrhoea, leucorrhoea, uterine prolapse, rectal prolapse, irritable bowel syndrome, and for tightening the loose or sagging tissues. For therapeutic purposes, Manjakani, also called Majuphal, is used.

别名 墨石子、无食子、没石子、无石子、麻荼泽、无余子
为没食子蜂科昆虫没食子蜂的幼虫，寄生于壳斗科植物没食子树幼枝上所产生的虫瘿，通常于8～9月间，采集尚未穿孔的虫瘿，晒干。《唐本草》：出西戎。云生沙碛间，树似柽者。

据《本草求真》记载：“没食子，功专入肾固气，凡梦遗精滑、阴痿齿痛，腹冷泄泻，疮口不收，阴汗不止，一切虚火上浮，肾气不固者，取其苦以坚肾，温以暖胃健脾，黑以入肾益气补精。俾气按纳丹田，不为走泄，则诸病自能克愈矣。”
没食子性状
【性味】 味苦，性温
【归经】 归肺、脾、肾经
略呈球形，有短柄；直径1-2.5cm，外表灰色或灰褐色，有疣状突起。质坚厚，断面不平坦，呈黄白色或淡黄色，有光泽。
常见有幼蜂的尸体，虫已飞出者，则中间有一孔道，与表面的小孔相连，内部并遗有虫壳。无臭，味涩而苦。
